Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is also the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who fought for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her sharp examination of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
